Shitting Glitter, West Hollywood’s glam/electro/punk/pop band kicks off the decade with a new album, new lineup and new shows!  Showcasing hot, danceable, subversive, sexy music with lyrics dealing in anything from spirographs to fisting, this is a band that can’t be ignored.

“Open For Business,” is a fresh collection of 12 indie-rock gems.  Produced by Hoagie Hill at Seamonster Sounds in Malibu over the past three years, the disc displays a more advanced and sharp sound from the band’s previous record, 2006’s “Free Alongside Ship,” which was chosen as a top pick by Out Magazine.

Joining the band’s two founding members, Amy Crosby (vocals) and Devin Tait (synths and vocals), are AJ Anderson (guitar) and Laura Jennings (drums), both formerly of the band Ask Alice.  Red Fox (bass), formerly of Messengers from the Sexual Frontier, joined in mid-2009.  Accompanied by its loyal dancing drag diva Coco Ono, the band is playing several LA area shows in the coming months with a larger tour on the horizon.

Despite its decidedly FCC unfriendly moniker, the band has risen to cult status in its hometown of West Hollywood, having performed at LA Gay Pride and popular boystown bars Eleven, Rage, Here, Motherlode, The Palms, and Girl Bar, a feat not accomplished by any other band.  Beyond their own backyard, the members have toured the west coast, the southwest, played in the Kansas and New York, and as far as Iceland, where they played to a crowd of nearly 40,000 at Reykjavik Gay Pride.

Recording “Open For Business” proved to be a complicated process, as the band’s long time guitarist, Brandon Glen (Tait’s brother), left due to personal reasons.  With a slew of shows already booked - include pride festivals in San Francisco, Sacramento, Long Beach and Santa Barbara - the band drew upon fellow queer musicians to augment the lineup for the summer tour.  Members of Slowmo Erotic, Three Chord Whore, and Crush stepped in to lend their talents until a permanent lineup was secured.

Throughout 2009, Shitting Glitter again drew upon their friends and cohorts for a series of club nights throughout southern California.  Shitting Glitter’s Hot Pursuit featured a variety of LGBT and gay-friendly performers, and the band was graced with guests including Alaska Thunderfuck, Dick Valentine of Electric Six and Chris Freeman of Pansy Division along the way.
